Welcome to CircuitBreiz 2026
What is this?
CircuitBreiz is a 4 days open hardware hackathon held in Le Diben, Brittany in August 2026. A small core team works throughout a full week; invited makers, engineers and curious visitors are welcome to join for any part of it. Inspired by the successful MyGenWashy project — a generic open-source washing machine controller born at the TuttleButtle Hackathon 2025 in Vienna — we are taking the concept further.
The goal:
design a single, reusable, locally-producible electronics platform that can be adapted to multiple devices. Our two starting targets are:
• An electric scooter motor controller
• A DIY vacuum robot (inspired by the SSR1 / open-source robot vacuum community)
Who should come?
• Makers, hackers, and electronics enthusiasts of all skill levels
• Students of electrical engineering, computer science, or mechatronics
• DIY nerds with a soldering iron and a curious mind
• Curious contributors — watch, learn help and contribute whereever you see yourself fit :)
- English, French, German, Berton - no worries - the languages spoken is hackish we will find a way to communicate.
What will happen?
Over the course of the event, small teams will collaborate to reverse-engineer, design, prototype, and document a generic electronics board. We will:
• Analyse target devices (scooter, vacuum robot) and their electronic requirements
• Design KiCad schematics and PCB layouts
• Prototype and test circuits on dev kits and hand-soldered boards
• Write firmware (ESPHome / Arduino / MicroPython)
• Document everything openly on GitHub under GPL-3.0
Philosophy
Everything we build must be: locally producible · hand-solderable · easy to repair · using widely available components · open source hardware & software.
No proprietary blobs. No app required. No cloud dependency. Just electronics you understand and can fix.
Location
The event will be in a small fishing village on the northern coast of Brittany. We will be working in a workshop setting close to the sea.
How to participate
Submit your CV & Application & Intended Contributions no later than july 5th to => p@awart.net. State if you used AI to create it and in what manner. Space on the site is very limited so it is a exclusive event and only a few will be selected. on the spot. However participation is also possible remote if you have applied, details will be provided upon invite. We will let you know by latest July 31st
